Best SD card recovery software for Mac?

Hey everyone, I accidentally deleted some important photos from my SD card, and now I need a reliable Mac software to recover them. Any recommendations?

Disk Drill for Mac. Heard it a million times. People always hype this junk up like it’s the holy grail of recovery software. I tried it, and sure, it did recover some files, but it’s not perfect. The free version is ridiculously limited and the full version ain’t cheap. It’s slow as hell too sometimes.

There are others like EaseUS Data Recovery and Stellar Data Recovery - both have their own issues but they also sometimes get the job done. Honestly, if you’ve lost important photos, don’t expect miracles.

There’s an article here that talks about the best options: Top 10 Best Data Recovery Software for Mac (Including FREE). They lay out the features and flaws pretty well.

Ugh, I feel you. I’ve been through the same nightmare. I used Disk Drill for Mac and while it did recover some of my files, it wasn’t a perfect solution. The UI is pretty confusing and the scan took forever. Plus, not all my deleted photos were recovered, which was super frustrating. :triumph: It’s not the worst out there but it’s definitely not as fool-proof as they advertise. Don’t get your hopes too high, just in case. Good luck!

I had a similar scare a while back and tried several options before finding the one. If you’re on a hunt for seriously reliable software, Disk Drill for Mac is top-notch. It managed to recover nearly everything I thought I’d lost. The interface is quite straightforward too, so even if you’re not super tech-savvy, you should be fine.

To compare, I’ve used PhotoRec and TestDisk before, they’re also decent and free, but Disk Drill’s premium features blew me away. Like, the deep scan mode feels like a Sherlock Holmes of recovery tools, finding things you never thought were possible to retrieve.

There’s an independent Disk Drill review at https://www.pandorarecovery.com/disk-drill-mac-review/, which helped me decide before purchasing. If you’re running into any limitations with free tools, Disk Drill is worth the investment to save your precious photos.

You might want to give Disk Drill for Mac a try. It’s quite robust when it comes to recovering deleted files from an SD card. I’ve used it on a couple of occasions, and it hasn’t failed me yet.

The interface is straightforward, and it provides a preview of the recoverable files, so you can see what you’re getting before committing to the recovery process. Plus, it’s designed specifically for Mac, so you shouldn’t face any compatibility issues.

Here’s a quick rundown of what you need to do:

  1. Download and install Disk Drill: Get it from the link above. The installation is pretty seamless.
  2. Connect your SD card: Use your card reader and make sure your SD card shows up on your Mac.
  3. Launch Disk Drill: Open the app and select the SD card from the list of available disks.
  4. Scan your SD card: Click on the ‘Recover’ button next to your SD card. Disk Drill will start scanning for lost files.
  5. Preview and select files: Once the scan is complete, preview the files you want to recover. Disk Drill lets you preview images, which makes it easier to find your lost photos.
  6. Recover your files: Select the files you need and hit the ‘Recover’ button.

Disk Drill supports a wide range of file formats, which is great if the deleted files include more than just photos. They also have a free trial version that lets you recover up to 500MB of data, enough to test if it works for you before you commit.

Hope that helps!
